Various Artists : Sleeping Bag’s Greatest 12” Mixes (Sleeping Bag / Acrobat)
Set up by post punk avant garde songwriter Arthur Russell, William Socolov and Juggy Gales, New York label Sleeping Bag Records ran between 1981 and 1992. A massively vibrant decade for the City’s dance music scenes, the label reflected the eclectic nature of music coming out of the five boroughs over the 11 years. So, this set includes Class Action’s Larry Levan mixed disco classic “Weekend” (best disco tune ever!) and Jamaica Girls “Need Somebody New” (also mixed by Levan), disco-not-disco from Konk “Your Life” and Arthur Russell’s own Dinosaur L “Go Bang”, Tricky Tee “Johnny The Fox”, Joyce Sims Mantronix produced worldwide electro-soul smash “All And All” and “Come Into My Life”, through to Nocera’s ‘Little’ Louie Vega mixed freestyle tune “Let’s Go”.
