Weekend : Live At Ronnie Scott’s (Cherry Red)
Along with Everything But The Girl, Sade and The Style Council, Weekend were part of a wave of early 80s jazz / bossa-nova influenced groups. Featuring vocals by ex-Young Marble Giants singer Alison Statton, Simon Booth (later of Working Week) and Spike, Weekend released a series of well-received singles and albums for Rough Trade, culminating in this “Live At Ronnie Scott’s” set. This reissue CD features 10 bonus tracks including three previously unreleased versions of tracks that weren’t included on the original album. These were sourced from a pirate recording of the original gig in March 1983. Other bonus tracks include three tracks from a David Jensen BBC session and a recording from The Old Grey Whistle Test.
