Afefe Iku : Artifacts Of Pottery Vessels (Yoruba)
« Artifacts Of Pottery Vessels » initiates its journey with « Mpaka ». Featuring mentor Osunlade on vocals, this hard hitting groove sets the tone for the rest of the album. We now take « A 30 Minute Boat Ride to Lamu Town » in which Afefe guides us to the old village located in Manda Island. If the original wasn’t enough dancefloor mayhem for you, Afefe ups the already classic with « Body Drummin’II » – one for those who like to get lost IN the music. « Brujo » is another hard hitter inviting us into Afefe’s world. On « Baiao », Iku brings some nasty drums, while the dark and heavy strings add even more drama for one of the album’s most intense moments. The set ends with « The Unknown » again featuring the vocals of Osunlade. « Artifacts… » is spiritual house, but from the tougher end of the spectrum.
